Ocean Vessels, Part 2: Sailing the Ocean Blue... Again
We focus on three particular academic articles to learn how ocean vessels and current technologies can help us to better understand what is happening with respect to oceans and the environment
Today, your Ride On writers continue to consider the very important issue of climate change and ocean vessels. We will focus on three particular academic articles to learn how ocean vessels and current technologies can help us to better understand what is happening with respect to oceans and the environment, including how climate change is affecting them.
To accomplish this goal, we will first consider an article published by Stevenson et al. (2019), who discuss many reasons why learning about this area is pertinent, along with suggestions regarding tools and policies, recognizing there are geo-political factors involved. Next, we will look into work done by Smith et al. (2019) who clarify the definition of water vessels and the many reasons, including but not limited to climate change, why we need technology to gather data on this topic, and what progressive steps need to be taken in this subject. Finally, we will focus on an article published by Li et al. (2020) who discuss more current technologies with respect to tools available to collect critical oceanic data, including their physical properties and the environment around them, as well as what is happening in these spaces in real time.
